Mass Shootings Hit Record High In USA

Mass shootings and gun violence in the United States, in general, are already approaching the breaking point. With the numbers set to break records and reach an all-time high at an even faster pace than what was previously documented in the previous years, peace and safety in the entire country are in jeopardy now more than ever.

While the COVID-19 pandemic was a historical time for many reasons, one of the more unfortunate statistics to experience a significant transformation during this time was the number of firearm sales that were transacted during the lockdown periods. Since the coronavirus outbreak kicked into full swing, the United States has experienced an increase in firearm purchases.

Sadly enough, the uptrend of more civilians owning guns would finally have its tragic conclusion with the occurrence of gun violence in America reaching an intensity that is literally off the scale.

With the tensions among all sides of the gun debate being more intense now than ever — the only thing to come out of the arguments is more and more deaths due to mishandled and inefficient gun regulation policies.

According to data provided by the nonprofit organization Gun Violence Archive, as of August 29 of the year 2022, around 450 mass shootings have been verified to have been committed all over the country.

While this figure will obviously continue to change as time passes by, the number is already a huge difference from the number of mass shootings recorded from a roughly similar time period last year (327 documented mass shootings) and the 256 mass shootings that occurred around the half-year mark in 2020.

However, at the end of the day, mass shootings in the United States are more than just numbers. The recent uptrend of killings attributed to gun violence during this year is growing at an alarmingly rapid pace. Obviously, this means that harsher restrictions must be put in place if the nation does indeed want the culture of terrorism to end.

And while everybody is bracing for dear life as to when the horrors will finally end, the current administration must move as fast as possible before more deaths are recorded and each life lost just becomes a number in an ever-growing and terrifying statistic.
