“Wakanda Forever” Surpasses $500 Million Globally and Receives Great Reviews

Is it just me, or do we barely get any good movies these days? I remember spending every weekend at the cinema pre-COVID, and now I barely go anymore because there just isn’t anything to watch. So obviously, I was pretty hyped for the release of Wakanda Forever, and it seems like I wasn’t the only one. In just its second week of release, Wakanda Forever managed to bag $500 million in sales globally. The world has been anticipating the release of this movie for quite some time. Half of these sales were domestic, and the other half were international.

Wakanda Forever

Unless you’ve been living under a rock these past few years, and we wouldn’t blame you due to COVID, you’ve probably heard of Black Panther. The movie was a big hit as it was one of the first majority Black films in the industry in quite some time. Everyone was thrilled to finally watch a POC film that actually had some backing to it.

Wakanda Forever is the second movie in the Black Panther series, and it has been highly anticipated by people from all over the world. The leading actor in the film Chadwick Boseman died of colon cancer in 2020. The film now tributes his work in the industry and the role of Black people in the healthcare industry. Wakanda Forever!

The Reaction

The cast has been over the moon with the reaction they received from the film. They didn’t anticipate that it would be bigger than the first film considering the death of Boseman just two years ago who was the lead actor. However, the film broke barriers and records by doing $500 million in sales by the second week. A week more and they would finally break even.

Director Ryan Coogler pens an emotional letter thanking the fans for the success of the movie. On its opening night, the film managed a whopping $181 million in sales. There are just a handful of films that managed to reach these values. The film even managed to make the list of Marvel’s top ten highest-grossing movies of all time which is a massive achievement.
